The left guards who played during Buffalo’s drought included some excellent, Pro Bowl caliber players. The right side of the offensive line wasn’t as well-cared-for. With late-round draft picks, aging veterans, and waiver-wire pickups, Buffalo jury-rigged their right guard position to try and hold down the fort throughout the era. Villarrial came to the Bills from Chicago the same year that Ruben Brown left to play for the Bears. He started 39 games for the Bills at right guard from 2004-2006, playing reasonably well, but dealt with injuries at the tail end of his career, and retired after the 2006 season.
