The Bills parted ways with Walt Powell on Monday after the receiver came off the reserve/suspended list.
Powell had been serving a four-game league-imposed suspension for violation of the NFL’s performance enhancing substance policy. At 4 pm he would’ve have reverted back to Buffalo’s active roster. Instead the Bills chose to release him.
Head coach Sean McDermott currently has a void to fill at wide receiver after Jordan Matthews underwent thumb surgery for an injury suffered in Sunday’s win at Atlanta. He’s out indefinitely, but McDermott made it sound as if he’s giving real consideration to the two receivers on his practice squad in Brandon Reilly and Malchi Dupre.
