The Buffalo Bills made headlines again today with their coaching staff, this time by hiring the first full-time female NFL coach, Kathryn Smith. Smith was announced by the Bills Wednesday night as the special teams quality control coach.
Smith served as the administrative assistant to the head coach last season, and worked with head coach Rex Ryan for all six of his years with the New York Jets. So, this isn’t necessarily a new hire, but more of a promotion for Kathryn Smith.
Smith will be responsible for running the scout special teams, as well as breaking down film, and assisting in whatever the special teams need on game days.
