ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley has told The Associated Press that guard Chris Williams has not attended voluntary practices because he is still recuperating from back surgery.
Whaley says Williams is expected to report for the team's mandatory three-day minicamp next week. That's when Williams will be evaluated to determine whether he'll be ready for the start of training camp next month.
When asked if Williams might be ready, Whaley shrugged and said: ''backs are tricky.''
Whaley provided the update following a voluntary practice Wednesday, and after the Bills had previously not revealed the reason behind Williams' offseason-long absence.
