Entering the 2023 season, it had been quite a while since the Buffalo Bills had a player rush for 1,000 yards or more in a year. LeSean McCoy did it in 2017, but no one topped even the 900-yard mark in the seasons that followed. Quarterback Josh Allen even led the team in rushing once (in 2018, his rookie season).
So, when the Bills not only had a running back top the 1,000-yard plateau, but also had that same player finish in the top-five in the league in rushing yards, it was a pretty big deal.
