The Buffalo Bills play a base nickel defense. In this case, that means that the team goes with just two linebackers on most plays. That also means that the linebackers who play in these situations have to be adept in a variety of coverages in addition to being stout tacklers.
The Bills have dealt with a ton of injuries at linebacker over the last few years, as well. There have been plenty of moving parts due to those injuries (hello, Matt Milano) and free-agent departures (hello, Tremaine Edmunds and Tyrel Dodson). Through it all, the team has added to the position via the draft, developed their own guys, and come out with some positive results.
