Tip 1: Be progressive with training and define your goals
For any type of distance running, Liburd stresses the importance of progressive training. In order to meet your predetermined goals, workouts should gradually develop leading up to race day to avoid injury.
“Be progressive,” said Liburd. “You still want to manage it and look at it from this standpoint, what do I want to be able to do? During that final week, [ask yourself] what’s my goal? And then work back by decreasing not only the distance, the duration and all the way back up to the period in which you start.
