The Buffalo Bills hired Rex Ryan for one reason: to win the AFC East. The Bills haven't been to the postseason in 15 years, but the hope is that changes under Ryan. The Bills have great players everywhere, save for quarterback. Here are four reasons why Ryan and the Bills will win the AFC East this season.
Rex Ryan
Ryan is an upgrade over Doug Marrone as a head coach. Ryan loves coaching in the AFC East and will enjoy getting to play the Jets and Patriots four times a year. That passion will spread to his players. He's one of the few coaches who has proven he knows how to stop the Patriots and the Bills will need that this year.
Amazing Defense
The Bills had the fourth-best defense in the NFL last season and now they've added Ryan. They've got one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. The Bills have solid starters at linebacker and are deep in the secondary. With Ryan calling the shots, the Bills' defense might be even better than last year.
Electric Skill Players
LeSean McCoy is one of the most dynamic RBs in the NFL. The Bills will need him to stay healthy this season. Percy Harvin is electric, but can be a headache. Ryan is banking that he can get the most out of him. Charles Clay is an upgrade at TE. Sammy Watkins will be a superstar with average QB play. If the skills players play to their potential, the Bills offense will be dangerous.
Only Need Serviceable QB Play
The Bills don't need an All-Pro at QB to win the AFC East this year. They just need a game manager who won't lose any games. Whether it's Matt Cassel, E.J. Manuel or Tyrod Taylor, surely one of the QBs can do that. Taylor might be the best option, as his running ability could match nicely with LeSean McCoy and offensive coordinator Greg Roman's offense.
