New Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan isn't willing to anoint incumbent quarterback EJ Manuel as the team's starter heading into the long offseason ahead.
"To say that he's definitely going to be the guy, it's way too early to say that," Ryan said, via Tim Graham of the Buffalo News.
In fact, Ryan says the team will search high and low both in the 2015 NFL Draft and free agency for other potential options to take over at starting quarterback.
"We're going to exhaust every resource we can," Ryan said. "We'll look at free agents. We'll look at the draft. We'll look at anything."
However, Ryan isn't writing Manuel off at all when it comes to competing to be the team's Week 1 starter some 7 1/2 months away on September 13th.
"What we're going to do is explore every opportunity out there," Ryan said. "Will EJ Manuel be given the opportunity to win the job? Of course, he will. We're going to do everything we can to get him to play at a high level."
