Opening Night in the G League was also the first step back for more than a couple of Long Island Nets and not only did Long Island win a tight contest but two of the team’s top prospects, Dariq Whitehead and Killian Hayes, looked solid.
Long Island defeated the Maine Celtics by a final score of 129-123 at Nassau Coliseum. With Nets GM Sean Marks and his Long Island counterpart Matt MacDonald sitting courtside , both put up numbers and played well. Whitehead scored 16 points, hitting 5-of-13 shots overall and 4-of-6 threes and handing out four assists while Hayes put up 19 points and handed out eight assists and grabbed five rebounds.
