After years of professional sports leagues and teams ignoring a perfectly placed in-game spot for advertising sales, the Philadelphia 76ers became the first team in American professional sports to sell advertising on its jerseys.
On Monday, the Sixers and StubHub agreed to a landmark agreement to place patches on 76ers jerseys next season. The StubHub patch will feature the brand's recently launched new logo and appear on the front left of Sixers' game jerseys starting in the 2017-18 season.
Sixers CEO Scot O'Neil announced the news in a press release.
