Since the day Tony Brown stepped in as interim Nets coach for fired Lionel Hollins, he’s said every player is going through a lengthy audition. Now with the team hiring a new general manager in Sean Marks and plotting a new direction, Brown is on a tryout of his own — for both Brooklyn and everybody else.
“This is not just an audition for Sean. A lot of teams are looking to see how I’m doing in this position. It’s a résumé-type deal here,” Brown said before Sunday’s loss to the Hornets.
“If I can run a team and run it successfully, obviously the record’s not going to be what you want, [but] I’m in a position where I can help improve players on this team.
