Thomas Robinson diagnosed with small meniscus tear, to undergo surgery

The Brooklyn Nets announced Tuesday that Thomas Robinson, their recently signed power forward sustained a small meniscus tear in his right knee while working out in New York. He will undergo arthroscopic surgery Wednesday. At that point, the Nets medical staff will release further details including a timetable for his return.

Normally, a meniscus tear, particularly one described as "small," will require weeks of recovery and rehabilitation. Nets training camp won't open until October 1, although players usually start gathering and working out a month earlier. Robinson required off-season surgery last season as well, that time a torn thumb liagment.
