The paid-off gamble that gives Nets some Bargnani hope

LAS VEGAS — When the Nets announced Sunday evening they agreed to sign Andrea Bargnani, the move raised more than a few eyebrows.

But in discussing Monday afternoon his decision to sign the Italian 7-footer, Nets general manager Billy King compared the signing of Bargnani, who agreed to a one-year deal with a player option for a second, to another player who elicited a similar reaction when the Nets initially signed him three years ago: Andray Blatche.

“I really don’t look back,” King said before the Nets lost 89-83 to the Pelicans in summer league action.
