Let’s not make any declarations about anything after Las Vegas Summer League, but especially not about Dariq Whitehead.
Before the Brooklyn Nets’ summer squad flew out to Vegas, Whitehead said, “I’d say this is the first time in my career, since probably high school, where I’m feeling like I could get out there and be myself again, and contribute the way I know I should contribute.”
The exceedingly gracious and positive still-just-19-year-old played in four of Brooklyn’s five games, with a scheduled rest day, and averaged 5.0 ppg and an assist in 21 minutes per game, on 15% shooting.
