The Nets announced on Monday morning that they’re requesting waivers on the 36-year-old Argentinian. Sean Marks signed Scola to a one-year, $5 million deal last July so the young guys on the team would have a veteran presence in the locker room.
Scola seldom played and was averaging a career-low 12.8 minutes a night. Following their request, Marks had this to say about the decision:
“We appreciate everything Luis has done for our team this year. His approach and dedication to the game will continue to serve as lasting models for our young players.
