Nothing is official and details are sparse, but BSE Global, parent of the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty, is proposing a multi-court community basketball facility in the abandoned Modell’s Department Store opposite Barclays Center on Flatbush Avenue. The facility apparently will be known as Brooklyn Basketball.
Norman Oder, the critic and chronicler of the larger Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park project, was first with the news, having learned of the plan during Thursday’s meeting of a New York State commission that monitors the 22-acre facility.
