The Nets watched the Celtics season go sideways. They saw the not-so-subtle shade Boston general manager Danny Ainge threw at Kyrie Irving. Their eyes and ears are wide open.
But here’s the thing: They’re going to bank on Irving anyway.
Multiple sources throughout the NBA believe Irving is leaning toward signing a four-year, $141 million deal with Brooklyn once free agency starts Sunday. And those sources universally agree he’s leaving Boston, — with those bridges not just burned, but bombed into rubble.
“I think it just makes life more enjoyable when everybody is humble, hard-working and will play any role they have to, to help the team succeed,” Ainge said Monday.
