The New York Liberty are through their immediate post-Olympic run, having played eight games in 15 days. At 27-6, they have the WNBA’s best record nearly secured, holding a three-game lead over the Connecticut Sun (and Minnesota Lynx) with the tiebreaker to boot.
This final seven-game stretch, then, isn’t solely about wins and losses. The Liberty could go 4-3, subpar by their standards, to clinch home-court advantage through the postseason. Even 3-4 would almost certainly do it.
Rather, it’s about getting playoff-ready, continuing to reintegrate Betnijah Laney-Hamilton into the rotation as Sandy Brondello nails down her real rotation.
