New York Liberty defeat Las Vegas Aces 87-77 in Game 1 of WNBA semifinals

“Atlanta is not Vegas, but I thought they played really well. We’re down in that second game, and I thought that was great preparation for us. And I saw the way we’ve learned from last year.”

New York Liberty Head Coach Sandy Brondello is spot-on. The Atlanta Dream, her first-round opponent, are most certainly not the Las Vegas Aces. But Atlanta did play the Liberty well in round one, particularly in Game 2, when the big favorite needed to mount multiple comebacks to secure the sweep.

I wrote then that defeating the 15-25 Dream wasn’t impressive, but that their resolve was.
