Nets vow no repeat of their most painful loss, which still stings

The Nets have played 33 games since, but the last time they played the Pelicans has lingered in their memory bank.

They led that game, played more than two months ago, 115-108 with two minutes left. They lost 117-115.

With a rematch on tap Wednesday night at Barclays Center, the Nets won’t have to think hard to remember what happened the first time around.

“That’s the type that sticks with you in the offseason,” coach Kenny Atkinson said. “That’s one of the games we should have closed out.”

The Nets have added more to that list since then, entering Wednesday with a 17-21 record that easily could be flipped.
