Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young being shut down for the rest of the season is a golden opportunity for Thomas Robinson. And Brooklyn’s backup big man said he’s proving he’s worthy of more minutes.
“That it’s about time I become a 20-plus minute player. I haven’t played over 13 minutes my whole career. To me it’s BS,’’ Robinson said after the Nets’ 106-87 loss Sunday to New Orleans. “But I’m trying to put that out there, that it’s about time that I become a 20-minute-plus player.”
That’s never happened before. Robinson — considered a lottery bust, the fifth overall pick in 2012, is on his fifth team in four seasons — has never averaged over 15.
