Cliff Alexander’s play for the Nets’ summer league teams didn’t get him a contract in Brooklyn, but it did get him a shot at playing in the NBA.
The Trail Blazers announced Friday afternoon they had signed Alexander, who was a top-five recruit in the nation when he committed to Kansas last year. After an up-and-down season ended prematurely because of an NCAA investigation into his amateur status, he wound up going undrafted last month.
Alexander, 19, chose to play for the Nets in both the Orlando and Las Vegas summer leagues over a number of other teams in part because at the time, Brooklyn had several open roster spots for big men.
