Trying to leave New York after his first All-Star season, Nets guard D’Angelo Russell was caught with marijuana in his checked baggage while flying out of LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday night, USA Today reported.
Russell was questioned by police after authorities found marijuana in a hidden compartment of a can of Arizona Iced Tea in his bag, according to the newspaper.
The 23-year-old was tagged with a summons to appear in court for marijuana possession.
In a season that ended in the first round of the playoffs, Russell recorded career highs of 21.1 points and seven assists per game.
