Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie announced Tuesday he had switched his uniform number from No. 8 to No. 26 to honor the late Kobe Bryant.
The Los Angeles native has been extremely transparent about how Bryant’s death has impacted him, sharing a personal story Sunday of Bryant calling him an All-Star during a chat they had following a game in Brooklyn last month. But Dinwiddie wanted to do more.
Dinwiddie told Nets Daily he chose No. 26 because it was Jan. 26 when Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other passengers were killed in a helicopter crash.
