Willie Reed, who played for the Nets D-League team in Springfield, then was invited to training camp last fall, only to be cut, has been signed to a "mostly guaranteed" one-year contract, Shams Charania of RealGM reports. David Aldridge tweets the guarantee is $500,000, about half what he'd receive if he makes the team.
Reed, a 6'10" center/power forward, is currently playing for the Miami Heat in the Orlando Summer League, scored 15 points and had eight rebounds Sunday vs. the Nets. The signing raises questions as to whether the Nets will pursue Sasha Kaun, the 30-year-old Russian center.
