The Nets saw this five-game stretch as a test to see where they stood against the NBA’s elite. They’re not going to like the answer.
The Nets went winless in this grueling stretch against the league’s playoff favorites, the last arguably the toughest. They got beaten 128-113 by LeBron James and the Lakers on Thursday night in front of a sellout crowd of 17,732 at Barclays Center that included former president Bill Clinton.
The Nets (18-25) have dropped five straight and 12 out of their past 14. And despite playing this one close for most of the night, it was a 12-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters that broke them, turning what had been a one-point contest into a caning.
