Nets’ playoff hopes suddenly in jeopardy after stinker vs. depleted Heat

MIAMI — The Nets have lost their edge. And what had once been a safe playoff cushion along with it.

Brooklyn dropped its third straight game Saturday, thoroughly routed, 117-88, by the shorthanded Heat before a sellout crowd of 19,600 at AmericanAirlines Arena.

It capped a damning back-to-back sweep against Charlotte and Miami, a pair of teams the Nets are desperately trying to hold off in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
