Brook Lopez did his part in Monday’s heavyweight bout against Detroit’s Andre Drummond. But despite Lopez’s brilliant game, when the Nets needed him the most, they didn’t get him the ball.
No wonder they didn’t get the win.
In a battle of throwback centers, of back-to-the-basket behemoths, Lopez played Drummond to a standstill. But the Nets took ill-conceived shots and made mistakes down the stretch, turning a late lead into a 105-100 loss at Barclays Center.
Lopez had a game-high 27 points, the last few coming on a dunk and a three-point play for a 98-95 lead with 2:24 to play.
