The Nets officially ended the first half of their season the same way they spent most of the campaign — with a legitimate effort against a better team, and eventually a loss. Tuesday’s defeat was 119-109 to the Raptors.
The Nets dropped their 11th straight game, the longest skid since coming to Brooklyn for the start of the 2012-13 season. They fell to an NBA-worst 8-33 and show no signs of breaking out of this ever-deepening malaise.
It was a game in which the Nets actually had advantages. They had given star center Brook Lopez Sunday off, and unsurprisingly are 0-4 in the games he’s been rested.
