Nets GM: Brook Lopez wanted back, other Big 3 are trade chips

Nets general manager Billy King wants Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young back, and is willing to explore all options to improve the roster — including unloading the team’s other high-priced stars.

Those were the two big takeaways from King’s half-hour sitdown with reporters Wednesday morning for his annual end-of-season press conference. Lopez and Young each have player options for next season. Lopez is likely to test free agency, while Young is viewed as more likely to opt into his deal. King said he wants them both back.

“They both have shown indications they want to be here in their exit interviews and we want them here,” King said, “so it’s incumbent on us to get that done.
