The Nets are cleaning house.
Coach Lionel Hollins was fired and general manager Billy King was reassigned within the organization in a stunning major shakeup announced Sunday morning.
“After careful consideration I’ve concluded that it’s time for a fresh start and a new vision for the direction of the team,” owner Mikhail Prokhorov said in a statement. “It’s clear from our current state of affairs that we need new leadership.”
The Nets are second-to-last in the Eastern Conference at 10-27, with a bloated payroll and yawning deficit of talent and draft picks.
Hollins finishes with a record of 48-71 in one-plus seasons with the Nets.
