The NBA Playoff race is heating up and in the Eastern Conference, everybody is fighting for positioning.
The Celtics and Raptors are alone at the top, battling for No. 1.
Then, the current No. 3 through 8 seeds — eight teams make the playoffs in each conference — are only separated by 4.5 games. The Sixers are in that grouping, only 3 games back of the 3rd-place Cavaliers.
Even after that, it's not done — the teams in the 9th and 10th position in the standings aren't completely out of it yet, though they both (Pistons and Hornets) are fading.
