Less than two years after giving him the job, the Brooklyn Nets announced Sunday they fired head coach Lionel Hollins. General manager Billy King also resigned from his post but was reassigned within the organization.
"Assistant Coach Tony Brown will serve as interim head coach. The GM position will remain open until a replacement is named," the Nets announced, per John Schuhmann of NBA.com.
Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov also released a statement on the decision:
After careful consideration, I’ve concluded that it’s time for a fresh start and a new vision for the direction of the team.
