Last summer, on the subject of former NFL rookie and openly gay defensive end Michael Sam, former NFL coach and current NBA analayst Tony Dungy admitted that he would not have drafted Sam if he had been in the position to do so.
“Not because I don’t believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play,” Dungy told the Tampa Tribune, “but I wouldn’t want to deal with all of it.”
Former NBA player Jason Collins, who also came out as gay, has a problem with Dungy’s line of thinking in a USA TODAY Sports piece about a new international study on homophobia in sports.
