Members of Lincoln High school’s basketball team — Whitehead’s alma mater — also were part of the celebration, joined by his friends and family members.
Clearly, the Nets aren’t treating Whitehead, the former Seton Hall star they took 42nd in Thursday’s NBA draft, like an ordinary second-round pick.
“This is a little different,” coach Kenny Atkinson said.
