LAS VEGAS — The Nets rescinded their qualifying offer to Theo Pinson over the weekend, briefly leaving him an unrestricted free agent. But they liked the second-year wing so much that they went ahead and signed him to a two-year deal Monday.
Pinson shook off the sore back that sidelined him Sunday, returning to the lineup a day later to throw his body around, do the dirty work and even shake off a nasty shot to the face.
After taking a key charge in the late going of the Nets’ 88-85 summer league win over the Wizards on Monday, he was fouled in the eye in the game’s waning seconds.
