Gregg Popovich disciple likely to lead Nets’ coach search

With the Nets playing their penultimate game Monday — and mercifully putting their season out of its misery Wednesday — it underscores just how meaningless these games really are. The $1 million question — and the only one that matters — is who’ll be coaching them next season.

While interim coach Tony Brown has consistently said his players need to play hard down the stretch because they’re being evaluated, the same goes for him. He’s coaching to impress not only general manager Sean Marks and owner Mikhail Prokhorov, but other teams as well.

“I feel like the situation has been tough from the beginning,’’ Brown said before the Nets fell 120-111 to the Wizards.
