The Nets began Friday with a turnover-filled practice that prompted Kenny Atkinson to make them run laps. They ended the day with an emotional visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum that their coach hoped would bring them closer together.
Atkinson has long held the belief the best team-building exercises are educational. And because so many of his players were just babies when the attacks took place Sept. 11, 2001 — Jarrett Allen and Rodions Kurucs were 3 years old, Dzanan Musa was 2 — it was bound to be a moving lesson.
“Some of these guys are so young, they probably don’t remember it like older guys,” Atkinson said.
