BOSTON — Brooklyn traded away the 2016 first-round pick it so desperately needs to rebuild, the second of three the Nets shipped away to Boston. The Celtics will be looking to twist the knife by sweeping Brooklyn in a home-and-home this weekend, something the Nets surely would love to avoid — even if they won’t admit it.
The Nets went for broke when they traded for Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, and now they are broke at 2-10 with Boston holding their unprotected pick this June. The fact that pick is looking like a lottery one is just extra galling for Brooklyn — even if general manager Billy King wouldn’t say so himself.
