Jordi Fernández and Team Canada faced a different challenge in game two of their 2024 Olympics run in Paris after defeating Greece in the opener.
In that game, their challenge was to stop Giannis Antetokounmpo, not from scoring the ball or even playing his menacing style of hoop, but just from being so individually dominant that he could carry Greece to a shocking upset. That’s what a Greek win would have been; for as undeniable as Antetokounmpo is, the Greek guards vs. Canadian’s stable of good-to-great NBA players looked like a huge mismatch on paper, and it was indeed that on the court.
