It took him three years, but D’Angelo Russell finally did it. He finally achieved the elusive triple double. He dropped 18 points, dished out 13 assists and grabbed 11 boards in a tough battle against Toronto. But now the question must be asked: when will he do it again?
Analyzing Russell’s game pre-Nets was pretty simple. He was a scorer and did not venture outside of that role. When the ball was in his hands, he pretty much kept it.
However, his post-Lakers career has been much different. Russell has really embraced the role of playmaker. He has upped his assists per game average to 5.
