Brooklyn Nets: 3 reasons 1st-round opponent is irrelevant

Lots of teams in many sports throw out the old “no one believed in us” mantra. But for the Brooklyn Nets — playoff-bound for the first time in four years — that tired old song is 100 percent accurate.

Las Vegas didn’t think the Nets were a playoff team, setting the over-under for their win count this season at 32.5 victories. Brooklyn blew past that mark victory No. 33 on March 4.

ESPN didn’t project the Nets as a postseason contender, predicting Brooklyn would finish 32-50, 10th in the Eastern Conference and six games behind their eighth-place projection, the Detroit Pistons.
