K.J. McDaniels is an Alabama product. He played high school ball in the city of Birmingham, which is famous for producing the likes of Eric Bledsoe, DeMarre Carroll and the legendary Robert Horry.
Highly recruited out of high school, he went on to attract a lot of attention, eventually averaging 17 points and seven rebounds per game his junior year at Clemson. Let’s not forget, McDaniels’ current teammate and fellow Net Trevor Booker is a former Clemson Tiger as well.
Like many athletically gifted college players, he opted to declare for the NBA draft early.
