It’s one of the most anticipated seasons for the Long Island Nets and their fans for a number of reasons. The Brooklyn Nets rebuild of course filters down to the G League. It’s not just about the draft picks or the cap space or the young players already on the Brooklyn roster. In the larger scheme of things, call Long Island the Department of Development and Restored Dreams.
Beyond that, and maybe more important for fan interest, the Long Island Nets have a number of players on their roster who will attract attention and perhaps crowds: Jacky Cui, the 6’7” two-way from China; Killian Hayes, the French point guard who has played 210 NBA games and is hoping for a new start in New York; and now Dariq Whitehead, still only 20 but trying to recover from his third surgery in a little more that two years.
