The G-League Draft is Saturday and although it’s not as big a deal as the NBA Draft (and isn’t televised either), it provokes all manner of trades, mainly of established players rights for draft picks.
The Long Island Nets and the Memphis Hustle, the Grizzlies’ expansion team, executed a typical deal Thursday in which the Nets acquired the G-League rights to a Brooklyn-born NBA player, Otaro White, and one of the Chinese Basketball Association’s biggest stars, Jamaal Franklin. In return, the Hustle acquired the rights of University of Memphis product Trahson Burrell, who played well last season in Long Island’s debut season, and Dwayne Polee II, a Long Island reserve.
