The numbers are encouraging.
As Daniel O'Brien of Today's Fastbreak writes Saturday, Andrea Bargnani averaged 17.7 points during Eurobasket contests where he saw 20-plus minutes. He shot the ball extremely efficiently, converting 51 percent from the field including 48 percent from beyond the international arc.
So was his health.
Other than a mild ankle sprain and a calf muscle issue, Bargnani didn't miss any time. A respected Italian hoops site wrote that he was "revived ... He reclaimed all his sublime technique and closed on a high."
His defense and rebounding were not stellar, although as O'Brien writes, "Bargnani showed some glimpses of sharp defense and even collected a couple of multi-block games at EuroBasket.
