The Nets’ draft pick wasteland traces back to the 2013 trade then-GM Billy King made with Boston for Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and others.
The Vertical’s Bobby Marks – who was in Brooklyn’s front office at the time – acknowledged they did it because they were banking on LeBron James and the Heat being vulnerable.
Marks – no relation to current Nets GM Sean Marks – made the comments on CBS Sports Radio. He also admitted that betting against James is risky business, noting that’s a gamble the Celtics – now stocked with years of the Nets’ high first-round picks – refused to make at this February’s trade deadline.
