In Nets news today, veteran stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierces believe that the success of the Brooklyn Nets in the 2014 NBA Playoffs is tied to how well point guard Deron Williams does on the big stage.
According to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPNNewYork.com, "while Pierce, Garnett and Kidd own the championship wisdom, Williams is the one who is still in his prime and possesses the athletic and dynamic game needed to complement all that experience."
“When things get tough, he has a support system to let him know that it’s not the end of the world, and to not be so hard on himself,” Garnett says in Youngmisuk's article. “Deron’s biggest problem has been Deron. He’s very, very hard on himself, to the point where you have to pull him to the side and give him some real s---, say some real s--- to him.”
Williams understands that now is the time to eliminate questions and start playing aggressive basketball, stating that he believes "that's what the team needs."
“We talked about it. We want to get in the paint, and so a lot of that starts with me and Shaun [Livingston] getting into the paint and making things happen.”
If D-Will can continue to make things happen, the Nets could go deeper into the NBA Playoffs than most pundits are picking them to go.
