The Brooklyn Nets have almost no flexibility this summer, so many were thinking that they would buy out point guard Deron Williams' massive contract.
Williams has two years and $43 million left on his deal, but the Nets could buy him out and use the stretch provision to pay him that sum over five years, which would create $13 million in cap space next season. However, that is "not in the cards" according to NBA.com's David Aldridge.
The Nets brought Williams in via a trade with the Utah Jazz, and they were hoping he could be their superstar as they moved to Brooklyn. He hasn't been the perennial MVP candidate the Nets were hoping he'd be - put he's still getting paid like one, creating the buyout speculation.
Williams averaged 13 points, 6.6 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game this season, and shot a career-low 38.7 percent from the field.
